Land Humans on Mars – SpaceX founder Elon Musk has set a five to ten-year timeline for landing humans on Mars.
When do you think SpaceX will land humans on Mars? Lex Friedman asked Elon Musk about the latest issue of Lex Friedman’s podcast, carried by Mediaite.com.
“The best case is about five years,” Musk replied. The worst case is about ten years.

Then Musk expanded on what would have to happen to reach the five-year goal. “They are basically engineering vehicles,” Musk explained. “The spacecraft is the most complex and sophisticated rocket ever created by man. This is really the next level. “
Here’s my conversation with @elonmusk for the third time on this podcast. It was epic. Elon and the amazing SpaceX and Tesla teams have inspired the world, at a time when it needs it most. Thanks for giving people hope for the future.

HumanLanding on Mars
Musk also touched on the financial aspects of the human landing on Mars. “The main improvement of the spaceship is to minimize the cost of a ton per orbit and ultimately the cost of a ton on the surface of Mars,” he said.
Cost to the Surface of Mars
“This is actually what needs improvement. There is a certain cost to the surface of Mars where we can afford to build self-sustaining cities and then on top of that, we can’t afford that. Now you can fly to Mars for a trillion dollars.” “No amount of money can get you a ticket to Mars. We need to make it actually possible.
First Landing on Mars should be different from landing on the moon in 196
Musk said the first landing on Mars should be different from landing on the moon in 1969. “We don’t just want to have science and footprints with Mars, and then not go back half a century like we did with the Moon. In order to get past this very important filter, we have to be a multi-planetary species.”
Tesla CEO– Best time to land humans on Mars
The Tesla CEO said he believes now is the best time to land humans on Mars. Musk concludes:
“Earth has been around for about four and a half billion years, and this is the first time in four and a half billion years that extraterrestrial life has been possible. And this opportunity may be there for a long time and I hope it will be open, but it may also be open for a short time. I think It is wise for us to act quickly when the window opens.”
